=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Big Two Quick Tutorial =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ** For a more complete tutorial, or other stuff regarding the game, please refer to the Deuce Manual. Object of the Game ================== The object of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all 13 cards in your hand. Number of Players ================= The game is best played with 4 players, each player is dealt 13 cards from a standard 52 card deck (jokers are not required in this game). Ranking System of Cards and Suit ================================ The order from highest rank card to lowest rank card: 2-A-K-Q-J-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3 Suits are ranked from highest to lowest in this order: Spades-Hearts-Clubs-Diamonds How to Start the Game ===================== The player with the lowest card, the 3 of diamonds, starts the first hand. The player must play the 3 of diamonds or any legal combinations with the 3 of diamonds. After the first game is played, the player that won the last game will begin rather than the player with the 3 of diamonds. After the first player goes, the player to his/her right goes next (counter-clockwise). Rules ===== 1. Single cards must follow single cards, doubles must follow doubles, triples must follow triples, and five-card combinations must follow other five-card combinations. For example: If a player plays a pair of Q's, in order for the next player to play, he/she must play a pair higher than the Q's such as a pair of A's. However, he/she cannot play a single 2 to beat a pair of Q's even though the 2 has a higher rank than a Q. 2. On each turn, a player has an option of playing something higher than the previous player or they can pass and let the next player go. 3. If on a certain hand all three other players pass, the player that played the last hand will be allowed to play anything they want. ex. If player 1 plays a pair of aces and player 2, 3, and 4 all pass, player 1 can now play any combination of cards he/she wants and would not have to follow rule 1. 4. When a player has one card left in his/her hand, he/she must call out ``last card.'' If not called, the player cannot play his/her last card on the next turn. Combinations of Cards ===================== a. Single cards - uses the DEUCE ranking system b. Doubles/Pairs (2 cards of the same number) - the rank of the pair is determined by the highest card in the pair c. Triples (3 cards of the same number) - the rank of the three cards is determined by the highest card in the triplet d. Five-Card Combinations ( or Poker Hands) - there are 6 different types of five-card combinations i) Straight - the player plays any consecutive 5 cards of any suit ex. 5H-6S-7S-8D-9C - the rank of the cards are determined by the highest card in the combination Note: The lowest straight playable is A-2-3-4-5 and is beaten by 2-3-4-5-6, and this is beaten by 3-4-5-6-7. The ace can be used as part of the highest straight when played with the K-Q-J-10, but the 2 cannot be used to combine with A-K-Q-J. ii) Flush - the player plays any 5 cards of the same suit - the rank of the cards is determined by the suit, so a heart flush would be higher than a club flush - if the suits are the same, then the combination with the highest card will have greater ranking than the other one (ex. 3H-5H-7H-10H-QH) iii) Full House - a full house contains 5 cards - a triplet and a double - the rank of the full house is determined by the triplet, therefore the double does not affect the full house (ex. JD-JH-JS-4C-4H) iv) Four Of a Kind - contains four of the same cards PLUS a single card of any kind - the fifth card does not affect the hand v) Straight Flush - any five cards in consecutive order AND must all be the SAME suit ex. 3H-4H-5H-6H-7H vi) Royal Flush - highest hand playable in DEUCE - must only contain the 10S-JS-QS-KS-AS
